Nicholas Burtner is at the School of Permaculture’s suburban site, demonstrating properly designed swales in a back yard food forest. The suburban earthwork features have substantially hydrated the very dry and expanding clay subsoil (which could hardly be quenched years prior) to now hold water in basins even with just a few light rains.
